The Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center clinical team consists of licensed therapists, nurses, nurse practitioner, medical doctor, behavioral technicians, and certified peer support specialists. Our Clinical Team offers individualized treatment in a spa-like environment that is tailored to help individuals to develop the skills necessary to prevent relapse, identify goals, learn how to heal, and build a life to support recovery.

Amy Hancock, LMHC
CEO

Amy has 17 years of combined experience in direct clinical services and administration in the behavioral healthcare field. Her wide range of experience includes family, individual, and group counseling. She has worked with adults who have co-occurring disorders, trauma, HIV/AIDS and families with a codependency focus. Amy has also managed specialized programs for veterans and pregnant/post-partum women with children in a residential treatment setting. In addition to counseling, she has worked with community partners to facilitate case management services for patient care that includes medical services, employment, and housing. She has held positions as therapist, clinical supervisor, and residential program manager. As a program manager she oversaw clinical staff and the day to day operations of a residential treatment facility. Amy began her career at Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center as the director of behavioral health services in 2018 where she has worked with the core team and the medical director to develop the programmatic structure of the facility that includes all clinical and medical services. She currently manages the day to day operations of the facility, which includes providing supervision to all clinical and administrative staff. Amy is responsible for overseeing compliance with the Florida Department of Children and Families and joint commission standards. In addition, Amy maintains a small patient caseload, and she provides individual and group therapy. Amy received her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida.

Raymond M. Pomm, M.D.
Medical Director

Dr. Pomm is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. He is also a Certified Medical Review Officer. Dr. Pomm served on the Governor’s Commission on Mental Health and Substance Abuse. In 1992 he began working for the Impaired Professionals Program of the State of Florida, the Professionals Resource Program (PRN). From 1998 until 2011 he served as Medical Director for this organization. PRN serves 29 Healthcare Boards and Councils on matters relating to healthcare professionals’ impairment. Also, from 1994 until 2010, Dr. Pomm was an Expert Consultant to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. He served as Medical Director for River Region Human Services from 1994 until 2017. Dr. Pomm presently serves as Chief Medical Officer for Gateway Community Services in Jacksonville, Florida (a nonprofit substance abuse treatment center offering all levels of care and including co-occurring psychiatric services). He has been with Gateway since 2006. Dr. Pomm also serves as the Medical Director of Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center. He is a Courtesy Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. In addition, he holds an appointment as Courtesy Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida. He has been a leader in the addiction field as it relates to the evaluation and treatment of co-occurring disorders and management of impaired professionals. He, most recently, was the author for Project Save Lives, as funded by the Jacksonville City Council. This program has been successfully initiated in the ED’s of 7 hospitals. Dr. Pomm has received multiple awards, including “The Marie Award” from the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence. He is an international speaker and has written multiple publications on issues surrounding addiction as well as healthcare professional impairment.

Nicole Buban
Director of Nursing

Nicole Buban has been in healthcare since her senior year of high school. During her 11-year career, she has worked as a CNA, RN, charge nurse, and director of nursing. Six of those years have been in the field of addiction recovery. She joined Florida Springs after several years as a nurse and charge nurse at an 80-bed inpatient recovery facility in Jacksonville. Nicole has become focused on Mental Health and Addiction, considering it her calling. She was inspired to serve people in treatment due to struggles with addiction among her family members. Trying to make a difference in her own family and now her community, Nicole brings loyalty, reliability, and honesty, all vital in a person with her responsibilities.

Briana Hente
Clinical Supervisor

Briana Hente has lived in Bay County for 25 years. She earned her Master’s in Criminology from Florida State University in 2012. Prior to entering the field of substance abuse and mental health she was an elementary school teacher. She was nominated as Bay County teacher of the year in her final school year. Briana has been with Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center since December of 2020. Her journey at Florida Springs began as an intern for the Master’s Program in Clinical Counseling at Troy University and was then hired on as a full time therapist in February 2021. She is currently a registered intern with the state of Florida working on her LMHC requirements. During this time she has assisted in the continued development of the outpatient program and has also been certified in trauma informed care. She facilitates a trauma informed care group that is available to all patients at Florida Springs. She is currently the clinical supervisor. Briana feels she was called to substance abuse treatment because of her experience as both an individual that has struggled with addiction and an individual with loved ones in active addiction. She is in an active program of recovery.

When not at work, she is with her faithful furry sidekick, Rossi. Part of her own personal therapeutic processing involves expressive art therapy. She frequently paints, writes and immerses herself in music and dance. She can frequently be found at her church engaged in service work and fellowship. Although much of her time is spent in the Bay County community, she enjoys traveling within the United States and internationally.

Kathy Logue
Nurse Practitioner

1990 : Bachelor’s degree in finance Georgia State University

20 years in the accounting and finance industry working as a corporate accountant, financial analyst, and Controller.

2018 : Masters degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, University of Cincinnati

12 years ago, started nursing school while working as a mental health technician

First in nursing school and since then working as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for several years developed specific interest  in neurology and psychology ( why I was excited to join FSWR) 

Returned to University of Cincinnati in 2022 and is currently pursuing  certification as a  Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and  Doctorate in Nursing.

 Continues to work as a Hospice practitioner part time

Certifications include :  AANP Board certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner, State of Florida Independent Practice nurse practitioner,  Department of Transportation Medical Examiner, Veteran affairs general, disability and gulf war syndrome exams and medical opinions provider.

Memberships: Member of American association of nurse practitioners, Tallahassee Area of Advanced practice nurses, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society  Golden Key Honor Society

Hobbies:  she loves the beach, hanging out with her dogs Cody and Roxy, painting, learning  piano and enjoying the numerous parks and beaches in the nearby area.  

Jeremy Akers
Physician Assistant

Jeremy Akers has been a direct patient care provider for nearly 20 years and is excited to work at Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center. In his role as on-site medical practitioner, he addressed a broad range of complex patient health concerns, building partnerships for successful long-term outcomes. Jeremy is committed to increasing patient access to education and care. He is Board Certified as a Physician Assistant, certified as an Advanced Wilderness and Expeditionary Provider, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Jeremy graduated in 2003 as a double major Provost and Regent’s Scholar from UCLA, where he studied Biological Life Sciences, History, and World Literature and he participated in the community education PLATO society. He taught Elementary Natural Sciences and Fieldcraft at the Orange County Department of Education’s Outdoor Science School, teaching primary education to 5th and 6th grade student-campers in the San Bernardino National Forest. He worked in Prehospital Care and Emergency Medical Services in the Los Angeles and Washington, DC metropolitan areas, providing patient care and clinical skills education. Jeremy continues to teach while working for Florida Springs, currently as a preceptor for clinical rotations in Psychiatry for PA students. He serves as a team leader for International Aid and Development, Emergency Medical Services, Disaster Response, and Incident Command System spheres. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, music festivals, classic cinema, and spending time with family and friends.

Jessica DeMeester
Admissions Director

Jessica has worked for nearly a decade in mental health and substance abuse treatment, and she brings this experience to her role as Admissions Director. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a passion for helping those struggling with addiction, as she has been personally affected by this disease. When not at work, she is typically juggling the demands of twin toddlers. Like a true Florida native, she also enjoys days at the beach.

Kelly Robinson
Lead Behavioral Tech

Kelly has been in recovery since October 2009 and has a passion to help others who are suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction. A native of Georgia, married with 2 daughters, moved to Florida in 2018 to further her career in addictions treatment. She feels very fortunate to have joined the team here at Florida Springs and highly recommends the facility as it’s curriculum is one of the most informative and educational ones that she’s ever seen, and encourages anyone who suffers or have loved ones that suffers to call us first. Skye Asti
Alabama Business Development

Skye Asti is our Alabama Business Development Representative, and she thrives on spreading the word about Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center. She focuses on creating partnerships and fostering relationships with various agencies and individuals in the community who may have clients in need of our services. She collaborates with other mental health professionals in her large network to provide appropriate referrals, when necessary. Skye is a person in long term recovery and has been clean and sober since 2013. She is passionate about recovery and believes it is her life’s purpose to be of service to those suffering from addiction, and to help them find the same freedom that she was given. Skye studied Psychology and Sociology at Auburn University Montgomery, and has worked in the addiction treatment field since 2015. She lives in Central Alabama, and when she’s not working, can usually be found in the woods hiking, or at home cooking up comfort food.

Wade Meadows
Business Development Representative

Wade Meadows is our Business Development Representative for the Florida panhandle and is passionate about helping people get healthy. Wade’s work includes informing individuals and organizations in the community, as well as other mental health professionals, about the services offered at Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center. He is a person in long term recovery. Wade has devoted much of himself to spreading the message that recovery is possible and help is available. He has worked in the field of addiction treatment since 2016 after studying Sociology at Columbus State University. Wade currently lives in Pensacola Florida where he enjoys days on the beach, a fitness lifestyle, and watching and playing sports.
